The no-storage description below applies to new free chats. Historical chat records from earlier versions may still be retained. You can request their export or deletion by emailing paul@pawandwhisker.net.
Plain-English draft — review before launch. These are our intended commitments; confirm security and retention practices before publishing.
Free chat: what is and is not stored
When you ask a question, your question, any photo you attach and the pet profile you have saved (name, type, age, weight, breed, allergies and health conditions) are sent through our server to our AI provider so it can answer. We do not store your questions, answers, photos or pet profile in our database. The profile and your recent chat live only in this browser, and you can clear the profile at any time with Clear profile on the My Pet card.
What we do store
We keep a small usage counter so the two-questions-a-day allowance and our shared safety limits work. We save the email addresses you choose to give us: the free PDF signup, the Whisker Plus waitlist, clinic and advertiser forms, and wrong-answer reports, each with the message you wrote. Nothing is emailed to you automatically. We also record basic usage events to understand how the service is used.
Providers
Hosting and AI providers process the information needed to provide their services. Do not submit unnecessary personal or sensitive information, and never put payment details in chat.
Security and storage
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect the data we hold. No online service can promise perfect security. Exact retention periods need to be confirmed before this draft is published.
Your choices
You can request an export or deletion of the email-linked records we hold by emailing paul@pawandwhisker.net. Include enough information to identify them, but do not send passwords or payment card numbers. We may need to verify your request. Clearing browser storage removes your local pet profile and history.
Vet finder and map services
When you search for a clinic, the city, postcode or approximate area you enter is sent to our server and map-data providers to find nearby clinics. Your browser then loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which discloses the area you view. We do not store exact visitor locations or your search text, and use no location in analytics or page addresses.
Clinic and advertiser requests
If you submit a clinic or advertiser form, the details you enter (names, email, website, message) are saved in our database so we can review them. Nothing is emailed automatically.
Waitlist and wrong-answer reports
The Whisker Plus waitlist saves your email and your consent. A wrong-answer report saves your email and message. Neither takes payment or sends email. The report form is not emergency help.
Photos in free chat
A photo you attach is resized in your browser, held in memory, and sent through our server to our AI provider to answer your question. We do not save the photo in our database or browser storage.
Purchases
The Puppy Survival Kit is bought through Stripe, which processes that payment under its own privacy terms.
